Summary: Fantastic printer for all types of printing
Comment: I had previously only bought Epson printers, but the dissapointing Epson C64 put me off them for life. I bought the Canon due to their reputation for photo printers, and I wasn't let down. I own a Canon 350D camera, so I was looking for a printer which would do the very high quality images justice, and it certainly does that.
The Canon also handles normal fantastically. The 'Easy WebPrint' function is very handy, as it shrinks wide web pages so that they fit on A4 paper, so you dont get the edges chopped off.
The ink cartridges are also amazing. They are not chipped, which helps keep the price down, and they seem to last forever. The quality of the inks are so high, I have never considered buying third party cartridges, which I usually did with Epson printers.
Whatever you want it for, the Canon will be perfect.

Comment: double sided document printing (duplex printing) is inbuilt- a must for people printing webpages or other documents webpage printing is a cinch-(as the included software includes canon easy webprint which allows you to compress pages into the desired number of pages making huge savings on paper as well!!)
Photos are great even on A4 size using a 4mp sony dsc 90.
has direct printing from camera although never used it as i like to see better details before printing. Ink economy doesnt get better than this!. Lasts me for ages and i print documents like mad
CD/DVD disc printing is possible- terrific to have even if you are not planning for massive number of dvd making.....I cant see the advantage of anything higher than IP3000 UNLESS YOU WANT Wireless connection as well...yes, i think i would have liked to have it as a possibility..
switches itself off, and switches on itself when you send a document to the printer, saves you bending down or getting up to switch it on everytime!GO FOR IT or you are losing out.

Summary: don't forget to buy a cable
Comment: I've just bought one of these printers, and am really pleased with it, but so glad I read the reviews first, because I would never have known that it doesn't come with a cable to connect it to your computer. You need a USB cable, the Belkin one from Amazon was a good price and works fine.

Comment: This is a really easy to use, high quality printer.
It prints double sided which is really useful if you're printing a big document and don't want to waste paper. It does take a lot longer if you're printing double sided, but it's worth the wait I think.
You can print digital photos out on the printer too - saves going to Boots to get them done. These come out pretty high quality too and the toolbox software that comes with the printer is really easy to do - for example, you can print out your photos with a white border etc.
My favourite feature of this printer is the CD-R printer. You need to buy printable discs but once you get them you can print almost anything onto a CD. Great fun for making CDs of music for friends - I've done loads as birthday cards with 'happy birthday' printed on and the person's name - people love getting a personalised CD! It's also great for business, you can provide clients with really professional looking CDs.
Another good feature is the cartridges are separate for black, cyan, magenta and yellow, you can get these refilled for c.£4 each. The black one lasts a whole 500 ream of A4 paper.
I would say that the only down side to the printer is its size, only buy it if it's going to stay in one place, not if you want to move it around a lot!
Apart from that though, what a bargain!

Comment: I used the same bubble jet printer for six years, then became interested in digital photography,
and became disappointed with its photo printing capabilities.
I read the spec for the canon iP 3000 and took the plunge.

Most amazing are the additional design specs of the iP 3000
Separate ink cartridges for economy; and they are transparent so that you can see what ink remains
A print head that can be replaced, in the unlikely event of a dry-out and blockage.
Paper auto feed for A4 printing, and a separate cassette for smaller photo print paper.A classy printer well worth the money.
