Summary: Good while it lasted...
Comment: I was impressed by the printers price - only £[...] - but unfortunately it's recently been giving me problems even though it's probably only 12 months old. It struggles to pick up paper correctly, and then when it does pick up paper it often picks it up crooked, making it jam. The printer was only used for light printing, and wasn't used very often, so it's strange that the printer would start failing so quickly. The best thing about the printer was the extremely cheap ink cartridges (from £[...] each!) and decent borderless photo printing - but for longevity this printer rates very poorly. I guess you get what you pay for - a bargain if yours lasts!

Comment: I replaced an expensive to run Lexmark with this superb printer. I've just ordered 16 cartridges for it (I need to do lots of printing), and they cost as much as two cartridges for the lexmark. Even in "draft" mode, the IP1500 is better than the old printer was at "high quality" mode. Excellent value at around £40. Very, very pleased with it. Highly recommended. Just missed out on 5 stars as it's not quite as quick for full colour printouts as I was lead to believe.

Summary: Brilliant but too delicate
Comment: A brilliant product, beautiful to admire, hold and use. But why not five stars? Well, its not the technology thats at fault, its the material thats its made from. If like me, you like your gadgets to look pristine, then get ready to fork out another £19 for the tube (plastic case)and/or the lanyard (the strap that goes around your neck) at £25. Its so beautiful that a single scrath on it puts you on a foul mood, and scratch does it get, especially on the silver back and front screen, simply putting it in and out of your pocket is enough to accumulate scratches that will make your thumb go raw from the constant rubbing in the vain attempt to remove the scrathes. I've had mine for nearly three weeks and i havnt touched it, not until i acquire the tube and lanyard.

Comment: Printer prices have improved so much in the past decade, but quality sure hasn't.
As a serious photographer I've owned top-range Canon printers in the past - usually with a value of x10 more than this one (which I picked up for £30). So, maybe I'm being unfair in comparing them.
However, the spec's suggest that I should be seeing a whole load of improvements in photo-quality prints (eg this is 4800dpi compared to my last printer at 1200). The truth is I'm not - Vertical lines are VERY VISIBLE when the prints are angled to the light, the color is poor (especially flesh tones). For "disposable" snaps to pass between mates this printer is fine - but the prints you get won't be as good as those 10p for a 6x4 offer the labs are all doing right now, but it'll cost you hell of alot more than 10p in ink.

Hey - I don't mind the cheap plastic "hardware" itself. Hell - the reason I decided to stop buying expensive printers is because I figured they don't last long enough to justify the price, so I don't expect much longevity from this one but for £30 so what.
But I grudge splashing out on ink that will end up coming out the nozzles mixed & sprayed badly!

I wanted to own this printer and think "I've had better, but for £30 this is amazing". Instead I wish I'd spent a bit more rather than wasting £30 on a piece of rubbish.
