I once spilled a whole mug of coffe on it - whoops - just dried it out and no problem. I have left it on for ages and I watch video files from it daily since I got it - it works like the day I got it. I think this is one of the best item I bought ever. Luckily WD replaced the drive and everything was fine for a little over a year. Then just as I purchased another storage drive to be sure to back up this one. A week later my Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM USB 2.0 Essential External Hard Drive won't power on at all. The cord even looks like it is on with a green LED box in the middle but nothing. I was actually using this to back up all my work files and using it to run ALL of my IPOD itune files. I'll be lucky to recover anything and it is not covered under warranty.
