Customer Rating: Summary: Very happy user Comment: I've had this machine for 2 years, working hard in my home office, and am really happy with it. It does just what it says on the box - fast printing, plus copying and scanning - and isn't infested with bells and whistles that I don't want. Extremely good value for money. Customer Rating: Summary: DCP7010 refurbished purchase Comment: I bought a Brother refurbished 7010 18 months ago. The Brother website is good and it is a nice package and works well when it works. It suffers from 'back door open' intermittent fault messages that completely disable any use of the unit.
This fault is the most reported fault according to the Brother website and any search on the internet finds a number of people looking for fixes. Brother say the problem is paper in the mechanism but none of the internet writers or myself seem to find it. Mine had only done a few prints and looks spotless. Brother originally offered to send a maintenance man under warranty but at the time I was too busy and now they want £90. Their support are very responsive though. However it seems worse now as it used to work 1 day in 2 which I could tolerate but now its about 1 day in 5. I've decided to bin it. If it worked reliably I'd say it is a good unit but obviously with my experience I'd not recommend it. Prior to this I had a Brother laser printer which was excellent but starting to show its age. For the money, you can't really beat this. If you're after an all-in-one solution, this is it! Text quality is excellent and the machine is easy to use. Just as it should be! If you're running Vista then make sure to head over to Brother's web site and get the latest drivers. Installation via USB2 is a walk in the park. As I've said if you're running Vista, get those drivers first because the software that comes with the printer is for XP. The scanner is good, text output fast, nearly 20 pages a minute and running costs low. What are you waiting for? Go for it!!! The Brother printer lets me reprint on the other side of the paper after I have corrected my numerous errors. 1. The printer is very easy to set up, perfect for those who want a 'simple life'.
2. It does everything that it says on the box. The print speed (20 pages/min) and the quality is very good.
3. The toner is very cheap at only £36.90 on amazon, which is the best price I could find on the web.
4. Another bonus, you should register your warranty on Brother's website, because you get to choose one of the following free gifts: 1. £20 cash back, 2. two years 'extra' onsite warranty, or 3. free label printer (worth £100).

Brother have really gone the 'extra mile' to make this product affordable & value for money. I believe Brother are trying to target the domestic market with this product, especially because it is compact, great for the home.
