HP Photosmart 8250 Photo Printer User Reviews:

Customer Rating: Summary: Not bad to begin with - Then the faults set in. Comment: When I first started using this printer,I loved experimenting with its functions and thought it was great. That was about a year ago. How it works today, the paper feed doesn't work. I have to push the paper forward myself at the expense of my fingers getting hurt. Also everytime you turn it on is has maintenance to do which can take up to three minutes and is very noisey. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.
Customer Rating: Summary: This printer is terrible Comment: I was tempted into buying this printer for its impressive array of functions. As a photographer/designer envisaged some 'value add'.
This was not the case. The printer has some Serious faults:-
You cannot select default print settings-----------------------------
For example, printing in b/w draft requires a step into preferences for each individual document.
If you can imagine running off a few web pages for draft or high quality color, this is not practical, especially as the printer does not automatically apply settings from the last print job.
The printer expunges paper at a rate of knots-------------------------
For some reason the HP is not happy unless it has turned you out a good few pages of blank paper at the end of every job.
I'm not an environment freak, but I see other people here have had problems with paper. I'm in that catagory also.
I would have put up with the HP. Despite the fact I didn't like it.
Last week it stopped stopped working altogether, I now have to spend time and effort messing around with warranties, returning, waiting.
If I could send this printer to outer space, I would do.
This is not a printer I would recommend.
I won't buy HP products in the future.
Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful pictures terrible documents Comment: I had this printer for about a year only printed photos on it with photo paper, no complains. Then one day I had to print some directions of mapquest and I couldn't get the evil device to pick up some regular paper. I called HP and I guess this is a problem these machines have they sent me a "cleaning kit" to fix the problem. It's a defective device but they will give you all you need to fix it if you get in touch with them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Brilliant and easy to use Comment: I have used this printer for the last 6 months and am astonished at the vibrant true-life colours of the prints. Quiet and a simple easy to use navigation system are just what I wanted.
It does not get near the advertised speeds of prints but I did not really require that feature. I too had paper handling problems, but found that if you overwrite the Automatic setting and set it to "Transparency", "Photo paper" or whatever paper I'm using it works fine. All you got to read is the manual, which is hard for some people I guess!
Customer Rating: Summary: HP 8250 A4 feed problems Comment: I don't normally write reviews but I wanted to share my experience with the HP 8250. I purchased this printer late last year 2005, and was very pleased with the print quality. After about 8 weeks, the paper from the A4 tray would not feed, did all the usuall things, reset the paper feed sensor, contacted HP etc. but still the problem continued. I took the printer back to where I purchased it from and bought another HP 8250. About 8 weeks later, the same thing started happening again, so I decided to take it back again for a refund. Whilst standing in the queue, another person came and stood behind me with an HP 8250, same problem. On returning to work and telling someone of this coincidence, guess what? yes, they had an HP 8250 also that was playing up with the same fault. I would have rated this product "no stars" but the print quality is good, hence the "one star".
