Comment: Do NOT purchase this item, or any HP item for that matter. Whilst they (HP) profess to be a `Global Company' that offer Global warranties on their products, this is simply lip service.

If the product you purchase does in fact show blatant signs of a fault well within the warranty period and heaven forbid you seek to rely on their GLOBAL warranty, you will be most perturbed to discover GLOBAL warranty is code for:

`we will not do anything to assist you if you did not purchase the product in this country, and despite advertising suggesting we are a reputable international company, we will insist the item be returned to the country of origin, at the purchaser's own expense; only to have the item replaced with a re-conditioned model (which only comes with a 3 month repair warranty)'

I can see how the words global warranty take up less space on their website and guarantee booklets, but one could argue misleading and deception conduct under the Trade Practices Act, or the Sale of Goods Act.

I was further disgusted to be told that HP did not care that the faulty item was purchased for as a 70th birthday present for my Grandmother, telling me, the age of the customer is irrelevant! Excuse me....I remember a time that respect for our elders was freely given, and rightly so.

I was upset to hear that it took her 4 months of agonising to let me know it was faulty because she was worried I would be devastated that my gift to her didn't work.

I will never again purchase from HP, and I would recommend all who read this think twice too.

Whether it be a camera, a laptop, a printer or any other item - the 12 month warranty will never guarantee you a new for used replacement (as confirmed by HP Management), but only a reconditioned model, which may also stop working after 3 months, leaving you with no recourse but to purchase another replacement item yourself.

HP further confirmed that if you purchase an item duty free whilst on holidays or away on business, the will insist the item be returned to the country of origin for repair or replacement at full cost to you the consumer (but they will return it to you free of charge! Wow - what a gesture of good will!)

No longer is the customer always right, corporate business no longer care about the consumer, or the quality of products, and why should they, once you pay out your hard earned cash they can wipe their hands clean of any customer service.

HP - Hopeless products.

Please purchase a camera from Sony, Canon, or Kodak.

Comment: I bought this item as a present for my mum when I found that argos had got it on special offer, she loves it and can even print her own photos.....a mean feat considering she can't even send a text from her mobile. The camers takes both rechargeable and shop bought batteries so if it does go flat whilst you're out you can just buy some more so you don't miss out on photos. The plug for the printer is really cool and is both for UK and european sockets. All in all, really glad I bought this item has really suited my mum, she thinks it's fab.

Comment: I bought the A433 Photo Studio really for my kids to mess about with but I really liked it and decided to keep it for myself (mean I know!!!!). It was really easy to use and even easier to print out the photos. I would recommend the purchase of this to anyone.

Summary: One Very Disappointed Customer
Comment: Why only one star? Well the product was faulty from day one and HP online customer service is dreadful. I purchased the HP Photosmart A433 Portable Photo Studio (Q7032A) online a month before Christmas to ensure it arrived in time for the big day; the box was opened for the first time on 25th December 2006, the camera set up as per instructions but it failed to charge. After 36 hours of continuous charge we managed to get the camera up and running. However the LCD display showed photos with coloured lines running all the way through them. Basically the camera was useless. I contacted UK GLA HP Store Sales Support Team by email and requested a full refund. A standard reply came: as it was now more than 30 days since the item had been purchased no way would they give a refund, even though the item had only been opened a few days ago and had been faulty from the start. The only thing to do was arrange collection from a UK address and it would be repaired under warranty. I replied that as I was overseas (which is why the item was purchased online in the first place)I would need to return it by post. However the UK GLA HP Store Sales Support Team would not give me a return address; the item had to be collected from a UK address and repaired under warranty. This does not help me as I am not in the UK. I still have the faulty item. There is nowhere I can send it for repair. But I have learnt the following lessons:
1. Do not purchase this poor quality item: HP Photosmart A433 Portable Photo Studio (Q7032A)
2. HP offers no support to those who purchase online - very unhelpful and only able to regurgitate standard format replies to any queries
3. Once bitten twice shy. Would not purchase online from HP again
My advice? Buy similar product from Kodak - same price and it works!
