Samsung CLP-300 Colour Laser Printer User Reviews:

Customer Rating: Summary: More JAMs than the M25! Comment: Initially seemed like a good buy but the constant jams are infuriating. It seems to have been designed to jam, with just as much thought going into making it impossible to clear the jam without damaging the machine.
My machine is now jammed so badly, and has ink-laden paper melted onto an internal roller, that I am about to throw it out!
Total rubbish!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Value Colour Laser Printer Comment: Bought this printer (network version) elsewhere as it was cheaper (sorry Amazon) after reading about it here.
The text and colours are very strong on first printing. I went into the easy to use smart panel (it's on the supplied disk) and went into the colour settings and took them all from 0 to -5. This made the colour and black print just what i needed and apparently it uses less toner!
I then went into the driver settings, went to 'graphics' and put the settings to draft, saving further toner. The results are impressive and better than my injet printer which cost more than double the cost of this printer. I should say that I have not tried to print photo's as I use online companies for this, but may give it a try and update this review at some point.
I have not had a single paper jam using Tesco value and finest paper and find the described speed of printing pretty accurate making this a fast home printer. For those who experienced paper jams maybe they simply overloaded the paper tray?
I also have had no problems with the toner test page issue as the printer remains on all the time as it is on the network. Warm up time is ok if asleep and power consumption is low when not in use.
The set up and install was simple.
I have found toner refills on ebay for £20.00 for the whole lot (b-c-y-m) making this a longet term good buy. A small and inexpensive tool is required to do this.
Overall, at this price this printer is excellent value for money - I couldn't find a comparable laser from anyone else at this cost. I would say Buy It from my experience of the product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Print Fade on left side.....poor quality print Comment: After a few months use, print quality is poor (Faint on left hand side...black only)
A common problem when you search the net.
Samsung dont want to know.
Avoid this printer
Customer Rating: Summary: avoid like the plague Comment: I think this is the most disappointing electronic item I have ever bought.
Where do I start?
OK - it's a printer, let's talk about print quality. It's a colour printer which means it prints in colour - just not the colours you were expecting. Unless you were expecting very, very, very dark. Fortunately you can adjust the colour. Unfortunately it still prints dark. Or all washed out. As for bright and vibrant? nope. Just dull and dark or dull and light.
The next thing is it's a laser printer which means that it is supposed to stick magnetic toner to the paper, using a transfer belt and electro magnets and a laser (hence the laser bit) - and then iron it on using a fuser. I can't help but think that the fuser either isn't hot enough or something isn't right - the print is dull and rough textured, it feels wrong. After a bit the print starts to crumble. This is appalling. It feels like the print needs re-ironing or something.
However the above is ok - it's fine that it can't print properly because it doesn't really matter if it can't pick up the paper. That's right sometimes it either picks up no paper (which causes a jam) or it picks up 2 sheets (which causes a jam) or it picks up one sheet but only sticks it half way through the printer (which causes a jam). In any case the noisy, plastic, crunching, clanking noises persuade you that something is going on, just possibly not what you expected. For a little printer this baby is loud and in the most alarming way possible. You'll be sat there wondering "is it really supposed to make that noise?" The drivers have obviously been translated from Chinese and show a blatant disregard for any errors that might be going on. The troubleshooting guide borders on the cavalier. The instructions are pretty much "yeah - errr... kinda open it, see what happens, close it, see what happens... er... any paper? yeah just drag it through - whatever way works"... Why bother supplying a troubleshooter at all? Surely it would be more fun without and then Samsung needn't even pretend that they care about the user experience.
In the end a printer is worth what you pay for it. And with laser printers it's worth spending a little bit more money. And getting one which actually works.
This is a dreadful, dreadful, dreadful printer. Avoid and save yourself the hassle.
Customer Rating: Summary: As they all say - it jams Comment: Can only re-iterate what other reviewers say - paper handling is awful with frequent and inexplicable jams, not helped by the fact that every time you remove paper tray and reload it goes into start up mode and waits 5 minutes to warm up. I'm normally a big Samsung fan for value for money, but in this case don't buy it.
