I recommend the use of gloves. The prints were perfect and that's what matters. I will be buying more. Customer Rating: Summary: Work brilliantly! Comment: Yes, these cartridges need the chips from the originals to function - but I understand that all Canon compatibles in this range do. I found the swap easy enough - the chip clips onto the compatible cartridge and is easy to remove to put onto another one. And each cartridge came with a full set of instructions, including details of what you see on the screen, so they have made it as simple as they possibly can to install them. And at this difference in price between these and Canon Original carts, I will certainly be buying these again! Customer Rating: Summary: Not really 100% compatible Comment: The cartridges are a good price, and the colour is a good match. However; you need to pull the chip out of the original Canon cartridge and slide it into the new one. This is a real nightmare as the Canon doesn't give up the chip that easily and the slot on the new cartridge doesn't make it easy to position. The result is that the printer often fails to recognise the new cartridge or says that the ink is low. I have the ip4200 and will probably buy the official cartridge next time, as I don't the chip can take the battering of another swap. If any other buyers have developed a knack for the chip removal let me know - as it would make this a 5 start product! all a bit fiddly really.
