Customer Rating: Summary: LOOK NO FURTHER - easy setup and great printing Comment: I was looking for a wireless all in one printer that gave high quality printing from files and scanned images, reasonable cost to run, and of course the easier to set up the better.
And that is exactly what I got. This is the 3rd printer I have bought in 4 years, one an Epson, stopped working after 370 days, with a 365 day warranty, the other a Canon Pixma MP600R, which produced photo prints of poor colour, especially at A4.
We followed the clear, easy to read instructions, and had the first test print in under 30 minutes from the first computer, and the first print from the 2nd computer (laptop) in another 15 minutes - as long as it takes to install the software. No sweat, hair pulling or angst - perfect installation, thank you HP.
Printing is quick, images look as good on photographic paper as they do on your screen, scanning even quicker - compared to the Canon, about 1/10th of the time, really fast. There is both an A4 and 4X6 paper tray, loaded at the same time and it picks the right one. Duplex printing is an added bonus as is bluetooth. HP Photosmart Studio software is available from HP website so you can scan direct to pdf, and a bunch of other things.
It took me about a day of research, looking at Which, reviews on many sites, customer feedback, and I boiled my choice to 2, this HP and the Kodak. What put me off the Kodak was the number of hardware failures, having to send the machine back, getting a refurbished one as replacement - this is normal when you are producing a product for the first time, but I didn't want the hassle.
Issues that have been raised by other HP Photosmart owners, noise - yes it does clunck and whirr a bit, but not continuously - a small price to pay in my opinion. Ink usage - seems to be OK, nothing more than any other machine, and cartridges are better value bought through Amazon. Connectivity - no problems so far (2 weeks) with 2 laptops using a cheaper router supplied by o2.
In conclusion, save yourself hours of research, guessing, and making assumptions - BUY THIS HP Photosmart Premium - look around there are some good deal bundles including photo paper & ink at the moment.
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointing! Comment: Having previously owned (and loved) an HP printer, I decided to stick with them and bought this model. However, I'm sorry to say this model doesn't live up to my old printer at all!!
Despite being connected to my computer with a USB cable (not wireless) 9 times out of 10 the printer is "offline" when I go to print a document. This happens regardless of the application being used. There then follows a lot of fiddling around to get the printer and computer to acknowledge each other. It's so frustrating and such a waste of time.
Also, compared to my old printer, this one drinks ink like it's going out of fashion. I'm a modest home user and am constantly having to buy new cartridges.
I would not recommend this model and am very much regretting my purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Printer Comment: Have owned this printer for less than a week and its amazing in terms of performance and quality, the duplexer makes 2 sided printing so much easier and economical. Would definitely recommend this printer to anyone looking for a good quality affordable photo printer. Would recommend you stick to using original HP inks for quality and depth of print and always use a good quality photo paper, preferably HP branded for maximum results. The HP cartridges are good value on Amazon and would suggest you purchase the XL ones as these will last much longer than the standard ones, particularly if you do lots of photos and graphics like me.
Customer Rating: Summary: HP Photosmart Premium printer Comment: Excellent prints and scans. Cannot scan negatives. Expensive on ink compared to HP photosmart 3310, my last printer which gave super service for 4 years. That is why I bought another HP product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Well built but slow to start printing Comment: Bought one of these after my Epson stopped working after a short while, had HP's in the past and found them reliable so, thought I'd give them another go.
Initial impressions were very good, seems very well built and was easy to set up, even latched onto my wi-fi without any problem....that is until I changed the router. I just cannot get it to connect the new router, and I have tried everything (and I mean EVERYTHING), including uninstalling and re-installing printer and router software. So now run it on Bluetooth for the laptops which was easy to set up.
Regarding print quality it seems pretty decent although I'm no expert, and the scanner is acceptable but not as good as the old Xerox scanner that it replaced. Luckily I don't need to use it very often, just for scanning the occasional letter or warranty.
The thing that really bugs me about this scanner isn't it's printing speed, but the fact that very often when you go to print something it will spend about a couple of minutes (I'm not kidding) jiggling it's internals around before it decides to do something about printing the job. Very annoying when you just want a quick print of something. It's also not the quietest printer in the world, especially when it's doing it's dance routine before printing.
Overall not a bad printer, I got mine half price at a well known stationery store and only wanted it replace the old printer, so am prepared to put up with it's idiosyncrasies, but if I had paid the the full price I wouldn't have been very pleased with the product. Therefore only three stars.
